Leading Mobile Phone Maker Retains Position as Number Two CDMA Handset Maker Globally; Shows Continued Growth in GSM Market
SAN DIEGO, September 19, 2005 ?According to recently released mobile phone market share data from IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, LG Electronics MobileComm (LG Mobile Phones) has maintained its number one rank in terms of sales of CDMA phones in the U.S. for the second quarter of 2005. Since Q4 of 2003, LG has shipped more CDMA handsets in the U.S. than any other manufacturer, according to IDC.
In addition to maintaining its strong position in the U.S. CDMA market, LG retained its overall share of the global mobile handset market from Q1 2005, winning the number four spot for the second quarter of 2005. Selling more than 12 million handsets worldwide in the second quarter of this year, LG's overall market share is 6.3%.
Building on its well-known leadership in the CDMA market, LG has continued its impressive growth in the GSM category. Additionally, having increased shipments by one million units over the previous quarter, LG's global GSM market share increased to 3.1% in the second quarter of 2005, enabling the company to maintain its number six spot for GSM sales globally.

Inc. ?Similarly, LG's steady expansion into the GSM market has continued with encouraging results. It is gratifying to observe that LG's products continue to appeal to consumers, offering them an ideal combination of information, entertainment and communication. . Ultimately, we believe that while sales metrics are a good way to measure a company's success in the marketplace, it is the total satisfaction of our customers that we consider to be the true measure of success.?
