It’s Update Wednesday, and apparently Google is in a Material Design mood this fine week, because it’s updated two of its apps with Android 5.0-style designs.
First up is Google Wallet. The app has been updated with a Material Design user interface that includes more colorful top bar, updated animations and icons and a refreshed tutorial. The app also offers the ability to lock or cancel your physical Google Wallet card.
The next app to be Materialized is Google Play Games. Once again, we’re seeing a more colorful top bar, new animations and icons, including an updated app icon. Google says that the app has “Game Profile levels and titles that show off your gaming prowess” as well as “a bigger, bolder visual design.”
With the Nexus 9 hitting consumers hands soon, it won’t be long before we all get to give Android 5.0 Lollipop a go. Google has been steadily updating its core Android apps with Material Design in recent weeks to prepare for the Lollipop update so that everything looks nice on Android 5.0 devices, and so its no surprise to see Google Wallet and Google Play Games get the same treatment.
These updates will likely roll out over the coming days and weeks. If you need a hit of Material Design right this second, you can manually download and install the new .APKs from Android Police at the links below.
