Pick up the Huawei Ascend Mate2 when it launched in the middle of the year? If so, I’ve got some bad news for you.
Huawei has announced that it will not update the Ascend Mate2 to Android 4.4 KitKat. The company didn’t explain why the update won’t be coming, saying only that while the Mate2 “is capable” of running KitKat, there are “many reasons” why Android 4.4 won’t be pushed to it.
The Huawei Ascend Mate2 launched with Android 4.3 out of the box, so it’s not like its software is woefully out of date. That said, it’s kind of a bummer that Huawei won’t be supporting the Mate2 with an update to Android 4.4, especially since the phone hasn’t even been on sale for a year.
