Sony has announced its new Xperia Z1s, a T-Mobile exclusive in te U.S. This is a reworked version of the Xperia Z1 that has the same build quality, feel and great 20.7-megapixel camera with Sony's G Lens and EXMOR R sensor for Mobile. It features a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and an IP55/58 rating for waterproofing and dust resistance. Also included is the same 5-inch 1080p display and 2GB of RAM inside of the Xperia Z1.
One small change with the Xperia Z1s that's worth taking note of involves its materials. Unlike the Z1, which featured a metal band wrapping around its outer edge, T-Mobile requested that the Z1s use instead in order to avoid any potential interference with its 4G LTE 20+20MHz network, which can deliver speeds of up to 176Mbps.
From our first impressions, the Xperia Z1s feels very similar to the original Xperia Z1. We are really enjoying the new camera add-ons like AR, Background Defocus and Info-Eye, all of which work really well with a quality camera like the one found on the Z1s. Android 4.3 on the Xperia Z1s is silky smooth and shows no visible lag, though that shouldn't come as a surprise considering its serious processing power.
The Sony Xperia Z1s will be available from T-Mobile on Jan. 22 for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $22 each. Make sure to stay tuned for the full review of the Xperia Z1s and let us know what you think about T-Mobile's new Xperia flagship!
