The Moto X and iPhone 5s are two smartphones that use their efficiency to their advantage. Instead of relying on raw power, these two combine their software and hardware to make the most of the limited resources that they've got.
The iPhone 5s is running Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip alongside a M7 Motion Co-Processor, while the Moto X is powered by a dual-core chip in Motorola's X8 architecture that has eight total cores. These devices are very intelligently polished, and it's clear that both Apple and Motorola have spent a lot of time optimizing their software for use with their hardware. Apple has total control over what goes into its devices. Meanwhile, now that is owned by Google, it's benefitting from running a near-vanilla Android experience.
