Just in case you’d like another piece of evidence to support the rumors that an HTC Nexus 9 tablet is coming soon, well, I’ve got just that for you.
Sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal say that Google has chosen HTC to make a 9-inch Nexus-branded tablet. It’s said that HTC employees have been flying to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California lately in order to help with the project.
Spec details for the HTC Nexus 9 are still fairly light, but it’s expected that the slate will be powered by NVIDIA’s new Tegra K1 processor. It’s also likely that the device will run Android L, the new version of Google’s mobile OS that’s set to be released to the public this fall.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen an HTC tablet, and even longer since an HTC-branded Nexus product has launched. The timing seems right for a new product in both categories, though: HTC has gotten a lot of praise for the design of its smartphone hardware lately, and it’s been said that Google likes to mix up its Nexus partners to showcase all of its Android manufacturers and make sure that no one company dominates the category.
Are you looking forward to the HTC Nexus 9 tablet?
