It’s Wednesday, and that means that it’s Google app update day for Android users!
Google is now rolling out an update to its Google Camera app that bumps it up to version 2.3.017 and includes a couple of goodies. Perhaps the most notable new feature is the ability to use an Android Wear device as a remote shutter for your phone’s camera.
As noted by Android Police, once an Android Wear user opens a#mce_temp_url# on their device, the smartwatch will bring up a remote shutter card. This card will then show a large capture button that, when pressed, will count down from three and take a photo.
There are already a number of Android Wear-compatible apps on the Play Store, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not exciting to see updates like this one. After all, not only does this mean that there’s another Android Wear app, but the update brings some genuinely useful functionality to Android Wear and Google Camera.
In addition to this Android Wear-specific feature, today’s Google Camera update brings a new panorama capture user interface. It includes larger circles that make it easier to line up your panoramic image.
As with other app updates, this new version of Google Camera is rolling to users in phases.
UPDATE: Update Wednesday rolls on! Google has also updated its official Chromecast app with support for casting your device’s display to your TV. Meanwhile, the Gmail app has been updated to allow users to attach Google Drive files to an email. Links to both apps can be found below!
