Now that we’re past Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference, the iPhone 6 rumor mill is churning at full steam. Today some more fuel has been added thanks to a report from Bloomberg.
According to the publication’s sources, Apple’s Chinese suppliers will begin mass production of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models next month. Those sources say that both models could begin shipping to retailers “around September.” However, it’s said that the 5.5-inch model is more complicated to manufacture, meaning that initial supplies of that unit may be small.
Along with larger displays, these iPhones will reportedly be rounder and thinner than past models. It’s said that Apple is prepping “2.5-dimension glass” that allows the edges of the screen where the bezel meets the frame to be tapered.
Previous rumors have suggested that manufacturing difficulties could cause the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to come to market later than the 4.7-inch version. Apple may decide to go ahead and begin sales of both models at the same time and just roll with the limited inventory of the 5.5-incher. Both models are larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5s, though, so folks hoping for a larger iPhone 6 could be happy with either model.
