Just in case those images of the BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry Passport that I shared yesterday weren’t enough to satiate your BlackBerry hunger, I’ve got a couple more shots for you today.
During yesterday’s Annual and Special Meeting, BlackBerry CEO John Chen whipped out both the BlackBerry Classic and Passport and let the media there snap some photos of them. As expected, the BlackBerry Classic looks a good bit like the BlackBerry Q10, just with an optical trackpad and set of navigation buttons beneath its display, while the BlackBerry Passport is a super wide device with a big ol’ screen.
Both the BlackBerry Classic and Passport look like interesting handsets. The former aims to appeal to the BlackBerry faithful that are longing for a BlackBerry Bold-like experience on BB10, while the Passport looks to be BlackBerry’s attempt at the phablet form factor. Because it’s BlackBerry, though, the Passport’s got a QWERTY bolted on to the bottom of its frame.
The BlackBerry Passport is expected to be the first of the pair to hit the market, with a launch slated for September. The Classic is expected follow in November. There’s no word yet on which carriers either phone will be released on, but for BlackBerry’s sake, hopefully they’ll both see wide availability.
