Miss out on your chance to play Flappy Bird before it disappeared earlier this year? If so, you’ll soon get another chance to see what all of the craziness was about, because the creator of the game says that it will return later this year.
Dong Nguyen, developer of Flappy Bird, has confirmed to CNBC that the game will relaunch in August. Nguyen also revealed a couple of details about the new version of the game, saying that it will include multiplayer and will be “less addictive” than the original version.
Flappy Bird swept the mobile world by storm earlier this year when Android and iOS users became obsessed with navigating the game’s one-eyed bird between several green pipes. Nguyen eventually pulled the game from both the Play Store and the App Store, saying that it had become too addictive and had “[ruined] his simple life.”
Now it appears that Nguyen has found a way to relaunch the game while making it less addictive and hopefully preserving his sanity as well. Exactly how he plans to make it less addictive is still a mystery, but hey, at least those of you that missed out on the game the first time around will be able to get a taste of what the hype was all about later this year.
How many of you have played Flappy Bird? Are you looking forward to the app’s return later this year?
