Windows Phone users already have a ton of new features to look forward to in the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update, but today Windows Phone head Joe Belfiore revealed one more goodie that Windows Phans have to get excited about.
During a Reddit AMA session, Belfiore revealed that a File Manager for Windows Phone 8.1 is in the works. The Microsoft exec shared a handful of screenshots of the app that show features like a “Documents” view, a “Files” view that shows how much storage you’ve got left on your phone and your microSD card, a search feature and more.
That’s not all the good news that Belfiore had to share, though, as he also said that the File Manager is currently expected to hit the Windows Phone Store by the end of May. That date’s not set in stone, but if Microsoft is able to achieve its goal, Windows Phone users will have a new File Manager app to play with in less than a month. And while that may not sound like the most exciting new feature, it is a utility that’ll likely come in handy for a lot of folks, especially those with microSD-equipped handsets.
