Threes! made quite a splash when it launched on iOS earlier this year, with our pals at Today's iPhone calling it a "cute, casual and challenging puzzler." The iOS-exclusive app ended up spawning quite a few copycats on Android in the weeks following its launch, but starting today, Android users no longer have to settle for a knockoff.
Threes! officially hit the virtual shelves of the Google Play Store today at a price of $1.99, which is represents a 33.3333333333 percent limited time discount off of its normal price. The game tasks players with swiping numbered tiles around the screen to combine 1s and 2s to make 3s, then pairing matching numbers to create even higher numbers. For example, combining a pair of 3s will create a 6 and combining two 12 tiles will create a 24. Swiping moves all of the tiles in that direction and inserts new tiles into the playing field, and the game ends when the board fills with tiles.
The differences in app selection and quality that used to exist between Android and iOS has largely disappeared, but occasionally we still see a quality game or app made exclusive to a single platform. While the decision to offer an app on a single platform can be understandable, it's also a bit of a bummer because it prevents users of the other platforms from getting to experience that quality app. That's why it's good to see Threes! make its way to Android just around a month after the iOS version hit. Now Android users can see what all the fuss has been about rather than having to accept a knockoff.
