After unwrapping Uncarrier 4.0 at CES 2014 earlier this month, T-Mobile today revealed that it plans to expand its switcher offer to include even more carriers. Originally offered to consumers on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, T-Mobile has told Re/code that it will extend its promotion to customers on U.S. Cellular and more than a dozen other small operators. In addition to opening its switcher promo up to other carriers, T-Mo says that it will accept a wider variety of phones for trade-in, including handsets that are damaged.

T-Mobile's Uncarrier 4.0 promo tempts subscribers of other carriers to switch to Magenta by offering to pay up to $350 for their early termination fee. In addition to reimbursing a consumer's ETF, T-Mo has said that it will shell out credits of up to $300 to customers that trade in their existing phone, sign up for a postpaid Simple Choice plan and buy a new T-Mobile phone. 

There are a number of factors that can prevent a user from switching carriers, including coverage, handset selection and early termination fees that can cost hundreds of dollars. T-Mobile's Uncarrier 4.0 offer is intended to make the ETF a non-issue, eliminating a barrier that may be preventing many consumers from jumping ship to the S.S. Magenta. Now T-Mo will be knocking down that ETF wall for consumers on even more U.S. carriers, and while it's kind of surprising that it didn't just offer it to them in the first place, it's good to see that subscribers on smaller operators will soon have the opportunity to pen a breakup letter of their own.
