Over the past month and a half, Samsung and the carriers have steadily been rolling out a new Premium Suite update to various Galaxy S and Galaxy Note hardware that includes a bump to Android 4.3, Galaxy Gear support and more. Today we can add another device to that list of updated Galaxy handsets, because Verizon has announced that the bundle of software is ready for its version of the Galaxy S4 mini.
The new update, which will bring the Verizon Galaxy S4 mini up to software version JDQ39.I435VRUAMK5, includes Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as well as support for Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Verizon says that the update also includes goodies like connectivity improvements for the S4 mini's Exchange email server, Isis Mobile Wallet and 4G LTE functionality. The big red carrier's full changelog is available at the bottom of this post.
It seems like we can't go more than a few days or so without seeing Samsung's Galaxy Gear-enabling update hit one of the various Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S4 mini models, which is great for both owners of those devices as well as Samsung itself. Not only do the end users get access to fresh software and new features, but the addition of Galaxy Gear support means that those people now have a new toy to add to their holiday wish lists.
Neither Samsung nor Verizon have said when this Galaxy S4 mini update will begin rolling out over the airwaves. The pushes typically start within a couple days of Verizon posting the support documents, though, so Galaxy S4 mini users should see this update begin to hit their phones soon if it hasn't already.
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update that will improve the performance of your Samsung GALAXY S 4 mini and also enable support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear.
