Over the weekend, a leak suggested that LG is hard at work on a new tablet with the model number V510 that could be a new Nexus device. Neither LG nor Google have commented on the rumor, but today some files have surfaced on LG's official OpenSource Code Distribution site that may have revealed the V510's true identity.

Reddit user "numerlo" today shared a link to the LG OpenSource Code Distribution site that includes the license and source files for the V510. After downloading the files and unzipping them, the user is presented with two more files that are titled "LG-V510(G-Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition)_Android_KK_V510_10d_Kernel.tar" and "LG-V510(G-Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition)_Android_KK_V510_10d.Android.tar." Looks like the V510 might actually be a Google Play edition G Pad 8.3.

Google partnered with HTC and Samsung earlier this year to release the Google Play edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4, new versions of each company's flagship smartphones that run vanilla Android and are sold in the Play Store. Now it looks like Google and LG have decided to team up once again to offer the first Google Play edition tablet.

The original G Pad 8.3 debuted back in August with an 8.3-inch 1920x1200 display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and Android 4.2.2 running beneath LG's custom user interface. Now it looks like consumers that are interested in the G Pad but prefer stock Android, as well as those folks that want a slate that runs vanilla Android and slots in-between the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, may soon get their wish.
