At the tail end of last month, HTC shared some Android 4.4 rollout estimates for its various One models, including the Google Play edition and Developer variants. Now the company has started talking KitKat once again, taking to Twitter to provide a bit of an update on how the Android 4.4 upgrade process for both the One and DROID DNA are coming along.
The first topic touched on by HTC was the Verizon-flavored One, which is actually still on Android 4.2 because of a last-minute delay that pushed back its Android 4.3 update. HTC says that the Verizon One will receive a compatibility update this week to prep it for the bump to Android 4.3, which will land sometime in December. The good news is that HTC promises that the Android 4.3 delay won't affect the Verizon One's upgrade to Android 4.4, which is slated to hit all North American One models by the end of January.
HTC also took a moment to address the DROID DNA. Responding to a frustrated DNA owner, the firm said that so long as Verizon's update certification process goes smoothly, the DNA should receive its update to Android 4.4 by the end of the first quarter of 2014.
HTC has kept an open line of communication with its customers and has provided a number of updates on its Android upgrade work in recent months. Obviously the timeframes given by HTC aren't set in stone, as the Verizon One has proven that delays can and do occasionally occur, but it's still good to see the company being so transparent about the status of its various updates.
Do you have an HTC One or DROID DNA that's eagerly waiting to be updated to KitKat?
