Looks like it's time for another U.S. Samsung Galaxy S II variant to join the Club Jelly Bean. T-Mobile this morning announced that the Android 4.1.2 update for its version of the Galaxy S II will be available for download starting today, April 8, through Samsung's Kies computer software. That's likely due at least in part to the update's size, which is a whopping 756MB. T-Mobile also notes that neither it nor Samsung will be pushing the Android 4.1.2 update to users over the air, so anyone that's toting the Magenta-flavored version of the Galaxy S II will need to install Samsung Kies to get their Jelly Bean on.
This Jelly Bean update for T-Mobile's Galaxy S II is coming to us around a week and a half after Sprint's version of the device was updated. The Sprint update caught many folks by surprise because both Samsung and the carriers have been fairly silent about the Jelly Bean bumps for the U.S. Galaxy S II variants, and while the arrival of the T-Mo update is slightly less surprising, it's still good to see that it's available.
There's no official changelog available for the T989UVMC6 Jelly Bean update quite yet, but since T-Mobile Galaxy S II owners are moving from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1, they should expect to see Jelly Bean-specific improvements like Google Now and actionable notifications after installing the new software.
