It's only been a couple of weeks since the Samsung Galaxy S 4 was officially introduced to the world, but it looks like two models of the upcoming flagship smartphone have made their way through the FCC. First up is the SPH-L720, which is likely Sprint's version of the Galaxy S 4 (Sprint's Galaxy S III is the SPH-L710). The SPH-L720 contains the usual CDMA and LTE support that we'd expect to see in a Sprint-bound smartphone as well as GSM and WCDMA 850/1900 support, suggesting that Sprint's version of the Galaxy S 4 will include global roaming support when it lands on store shelves.
Along with the SPH-L720, the FCC has given its approval to a Samsung device featuring the model number SCH-R970. Samsung said when it announced the Galaxy S 4 that both Cricket and U.S. Cellular will be offering the device here in the U.S, and so as Phone Scoop notes, it's possible that this SCH-R970 model is the Galaxy S 4 model that'll be hitting those carriers in the future. Cricket and U.S. Cellular currently offer Galaxy S III models that are also known by the model number SCH-R530.
Samsung has said that the Galaxy S 4 will begin rolling out to carriers around the globe in the second quarter of 2013. So far T-Mobile is the only U.S. carrier that's divulged any more information, revealing recently that its Galaxy S 4 will launch around May 1. While these FCC filings don't guarantee that the Galaxy S 4 is close to launching on Sprint, Cricket or U.S. Cellular, they do mean that the handset is one step closer to arriving in those carriers' stores. To help pass the time until that happens, you can flip through the FCC entry for each model below.
