The HTC One finally made its debut at events in both London and New York today, and as part of the announcement, HTC said that its new flagship Android smartphone will be available in both black and silver versions. It appears that the company may have a third color option in its pipeline, though, as the HTC's website is currently showing the device in black, silver and red variants. Only the face of the red One is shown, but we can see that it's got bright red parts both above and below its display. The red One is shown on both the global and U.S.-specific versions of HTC's website.
While the HTC One and its aluminum unibody design make for an attractive handset, the silver and black options aren't terribly exciting for folks that like a splash of color on their smartphones. A red version of the One would certainly make the new flagship more attractive to those consumers, and hey, no one has ever complained about having more color choices when selecting a new phone. Unfortunately, we've yet to hear anything official about a red One from HTC, so it's not clear when or if this thing will actually hit store shelves. At least we've got that hot red handset up there to ogle until we hear more from HTC. Would you be interested in the red HTC One if it were made available for purchase?
UPDATE: The red HTC One has been pulled from both the global and U.S.-specific versions of HTC's site. HTC's explanation is that the red device's appearance was an error, but as Android Central notes, it's certainly possible that we could see a red model officially introduced at some point in the future. I know that I'm crossing my fingers for one.
