Get out your 2014 calendars, folks, because there are some changes being made to the mobile conventions that'll be held next year that you'll want to be aware of. CTIA-The Wireless Association announced this morning that it's combining its two mobile events held each year, CTIA in the spring and MobileCON in the fall, into one big show. The new mega CTIA will be held in from Sept. 9-11, 2014 in Las Vegas. CTIA and MobileCON will remain separate shows in 2013, with CTIA happening on May 21-23 and MobileCON going down on Oct. 9-11.
The two separate shows each have their own focus, with CTIA being the place for consumer electronics and MobileCON focusing on business and IT tech. Combining the two shows ought to give both sides a chance to mingle and bring more attention to their announcements. This change also gives CTIA more space away from Mobile World Congress, which takes place in February, and gives attending firms a chance to show off new products ahead of the holidays. More and more companies are holding their own events when it comes time to showcase new products, but for the ones that decide to head to this new CTIA in 2014, this change looks like one to be happy about.
