Love high-end specs in your Android phones? If so, you may be interested in the device that HTC just introduced in Japan, dubbed the HTC J Butterfly. Announced for Japan, the J Butterfly features a 5-inch Super LCD 3 display with a resolution of 1920x1080, which works out to around 440ppi. Along with that high-res display, the J Butterfly touts a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 16GB storage, microSDHC support, 2GB RAM, NFC and a 2,020mAh battery packed into its 9.1mm-thick body. There are also 8-megapixel rear and 2.1-megapixel front cameras. The HTC J Butterfly comes preloaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will be available in Japan in black, red or white.

We've been hearing rumors about a mysterious HTC Android device with a 5-inch 1080p display for a while now, and today it looks like HTC has finally confirmed all of those reports with the J Butterfly. This device looks pretty similar to the one that leaked out in some blurry images back in September, complete with the red accent on the side of the device. The J Butterfly's got a pretty impressive spec sheet, including a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM, though its 5-inch 1080p display will likely garner the most attention of any of its features.

As for when we might see this thing stateside, HTC hasn't mentioned any U.S. release details yet. However, it's been said that an HTC device with a 5-inch 1080p display could be heading to Verizon, so that may be something for Big Red customers to keep in the back of their minds.
