It's certainly been a while since Motorola updated its Android software upgrade timeline, but Moto broke its update silence this morning by giving the schedule a slight refresh. One of the most notable changes involves the DROID Bionic, which was originally expected to be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich in the early portion of the third quarter. The Bionic's Android 4.0.4 update is now slated to arrive in Q4. Meanwhile, the Atrix, Atrix 2, Photon 4G and Electrify are all now listed as "Further plans coming soon." Motorola has also bumped the ICS updates for the DROID Xyboard 8.2 and XOOM Family Edition back to Q4.
It was just last night that we told you about a Motorola executive that acknowledged that Bionic owners "have gotten a raw deal" and explained that the company has "a plan" for the device. It looks like that plan is to bring the Bionic's ICS update in the fourth quarter. Here's to hoping that Moto gets the update out as soon as it can in the quarter. It's also worth noting that the Atrix and Atrix 2 were originally supposed to see Android 4.0 updates in Q3 while the Photon's was scheduled for Q4, but now those devices as well as the Electrify now have a vague "Further plans coming soon" upgrade status. That's definitely a bummer for owners of those products, and hopefully Moto doesn't end up killing those updates outright. As usual, we'll update you with more details as we get 'em.
