Back at the tail end of August, we got wind of some upcoming "All Hands Day" workdays for T-Mobile employees that'd be taking place starting September 21, but at the time there was no mention of what Magenta might have up its sleeve. Some images leaked to TmoNews today has changed that. The shots show we could see T-Mobile kick off the Magenta Deal Days Smartphone Sale on September 21, which will give customers the opportunity to get a new handset for $0 down payment after mail-in rebate (with an Equipment Installment Plan) if they sign up for a Value plan with the Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data add-on. The sale will reportedly run from from September 21 through September 30 and will be available in Retail and Branded stores, Customer Care and Telesales.
In addition to this smartphone sale, T-Mobile will also be kicking off the Hate to Wait II promotion. This deal will give one million Classic and Legacy plan customers the chance to upgrade to a new device at Same as New pricing, provided that they're between 15 and 21 months into their contract. Subscribers that opt to switch to a Value plan will be given $50 off the down payment of their device. The Hate to Wait II promo is scheduled to run from mid-September through mid-October.
With a start date of September 21, it looks like T-Mobile will be using these Magenta Deal Days and Hate to Wait II promos to take some focus off of the iPhone 5, which is launching on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon on the same date. We've seen a similar Value plan offer from T-Mobile in the past, and while I'm sure that there are some parts of this deal that I'm sure some people would like to alter, the sale could be a good chance for a Magenta-loyal customer to snag a new smartphone on the cheap. It's also worth noting that this promo isn't yet official, so we'll have to wait for T-Mobile to announce the sale before we're sure we know all of the intricacies of it. Based on what we know so far, are any of you T-Mobile folk thinking about taking part in this offer?
