The rollout of Ice Cream Sandwich to AT&T Android devices continues today, as the carrier has announced that an update to Android 4.0 is now available for the Samsung Captivate Glide. AT&T announced on its official Consumer Blog that the update is available starting today, September 7. Included is the usual array of ICS goodies, such as Face Unlock, improved notifications and a data usage tracking tool. The software version of the new update is I927UCLH2.
Captivate Glide owners eager to sink their teeth into Ice Cream Sandwich ought to note that, according to Samsung's support page for the update, this ICS bump won't be rolling out over the air. That means you've got to fire up Samsung's Kies software on your computer and also plug the Captivate Glide into it in order to get the update process going (instructions here). It's kind of a bummer that Captivate Glide owners can't go the OTA route to get Android 4.0, but hey, an update to ICS is probably worth the trouble of running Kies and finding a USB cable to plug your phone into the computer. As usual, you Captivate Glide owners should give us a shout in the comments below once you complete the update. We'll be waiting to hear from you!
