Yesterday a rumor claimed that both the Sprint Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S 4G would finally receive their official Jelly Bean updates starting today, and now it looks like those reports have been confirmed. Sprint has updated its Galaxy Nexus support page with information about the device's update to Android 4.1.1, which the carrier says will be released today, September 6. The software version is JRO03R, and the update is said to include the usual Jelly Bean goodies like Google Now and expandable notifications. The Galaxy Nexus's software update page in Sprint's forums has yet to be updated with roll out information for the phone's Jelly Bean bump.
As for the Nexus S 4G, it appears that Sprint has yet to update any of its support pages with information on the NS4G's Android 4.1 update. However, a Sprint employee with the user name "RLCOLLECTOR68" has posted in a thread in the Nexus S 4G's support forum, claiming that the device's Jelly Bean update has begun a "slow roll out" from Google's servers. The employee adds that the update "will take little over a week" to reach all Nexus S 4G users.
That's all good news, right? Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S 4G owners that've actually received the update quite yet. Considering that the GSM versions of the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S have been running Jelly Bean for a couple of months now, though, I'm sure that many users of the Sprint models are just happy that their updates have finally been confirmed by Sprint.
