Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been available to the GSM versions of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S for some time, but according to a new report, Google's latest treat may finally be making its way to the Sprint versions of those devices soon. Android Central claims to have been told by "a reliable source" that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G will both be bumped up to Jelly Bean on Thursday, September 6. The Galaxy Nexus will reportedly receive software build FH05 while the Nexus S 4G will get JRO03R.
When Google began pushing Jelly Bean to the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus, the company said that the other models of Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S were "up next" for Android 4.1 updates, but there was no mention of any possible release windows at the time. Obviously this leaked information is unofficial, but considering how long owners of the Sprint Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G have been waiting for their taste of Jelly Bean, the rumor that it might hit as soon as tomorrow is exciting. We'll keep an eye out for an official announcements from Google or Sprint and pass along anything we find.
UPDATE: Another leak supporting this original one has emerged, as Android Central has posted an image from Sprint's internal system showing that both the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G are expected to be updated to Jelly Bean on Thursday, September 6. Good thing that owners of those devices don't have to wait long to find out whether or not these leaks hold true. The photo of Sprint's system is below.
