Mark your calendars, folks. Apple has begun sending out invitations to an event that'll be taking place on September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT. According to The Loop, the gathering will be taking place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif. The invitation reads "It's almost here." along with a large number 12, which is also casting a shadow that looks like the top portion of the number 5.
While Apple doesn't come out and say what it's planning for this event (shocker), it's long been rumored that the new iPhone will be introduced on September 12, with a launch to follow on September 21. Obviously we'll have to wait for the event to take place before we know whether or not those claims are accurate, but at least the first of the two seems spot-on so far. As for the name of the device, many have been expecting Apple to dub it the "new iPhone" after the Cupertino firm referring to its latest iPad as the "new iPad" or just "iPad" rather than "iPad 3." However, the shadow of the 5 in the invitation seems to suggest that Apple may go with "iPhone 5" instead. We'll just have to wait for Tim Cook and Co. to take the stage on September 12 to find out once and for all. Between "new iPhone" and "iPhone 5," which name do you prefer?
