Been wondering what Microsoft and Nokia could have up their sleeves for the Windows Phone event on September 5? We may have the answer today, as a report from The Verge claims to know of a pair of Nokia handsets that'll be shown at the gathering. According to the site's "sources familiar with the two companies' plans," two Nokia devices codenamed "Phi" and "Arrow" will be introduced, both of which will reportedly be Lumia-branded. The Phi is said to be a hero device for AT&T that's meant to be a successor to the Lumia 800 and 900, complete with a big curved glass display and polycarbonate body. The Arrow is expected to be a mid-range handset for both AT&T and T-Mobile, and a similar model codenamed "Atlas" is thought to be headed to Verizon, though that device likely won't be announced until later on.
Obviously there's still a lot we don't know about the handsets in this report, like exact spec details and launch dates, but at least we've now got an idea of what to expect from Microsoft and Nokia once September 5 rolls around. The Lumia 800 and 900 were praised for their polycarbonate design when they were introduced, so I'm sure that many folks will be glad to see a new, Windows Phone 8-powered device with a similar look. And as for the Verizon-bound Atlas? Well, I'm sure that several Verizon customers are just glad to hear that they'll finally be getting a new Windows Phone handset to pick up.
