Earlier this month we got a peek at the Sony Xperia SL hanging out in the wild, sporting an Xperia S-like body by reportedly updated internals. Now the device is back in an appearance on Sony's official site, and it appears that our initial impressions of the SL weren't too far off. As you can see in the image above, the Xperia SL bears more than a passing resemblance to the Xperia S, though the SL will be available in available in silver and pink in addition to the white and black color options that the S had. Spec-wise, the Xperia SL packs a 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8260 Snapdragon S3 processor (up from the Xperia S's 1.5GHz dual-core chip) and the same 4.3-inch 720p display and 12.1-megapixel shooter found in the Xperia S. The SL will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich preloaded.
While the Xperia S and Xperia SL do have a lot in common, one thing that the Xperia S actually has going for it is that it's, you know, actually available now. There's no word yet on when that'll be changing, as Sony has a vague "Coming Soon" tag next to the Xperia SL on its phones page. With IFA 2012 kicking off at the end of August and Sony holding an event right before then, though, it may not be much longer before the Xperia SL continues to follow in its predecessor's footsteps by landing on store shelves. Stay tuned.
