Verizon has announced a number of 4G LTE enhancements and expansions of the past couple of weeks, and now the carrier has gathered them all together in one release and confirmed that the growth will be taking place on April 19th. In all, Verizon will launching its LTE network in 27 new markets on Thursday and expanding it in 44 more, bringing its total number of 4G markets up to 230. David Small, CTO of Verizon Wireless, says that with this latest expansion, his carrier's LTE network will cover more than two-thirds of the U.S. population. Verizon's 4G LTE network originally launched back in December of 2010, and the company has said that it plans to cover 400 markets with its LTE coverage before the end of 2012, a goal that this latest expansion brings it that much closer to. It's good to see Verizon continuing to build out its LTE network, especially considering that many smaller cities and towns are now being included in the growth.
