Interested in giving Nokia's shiny new 808 PureView and its crazy camera a go? If you're in North America, you'll have to go through a bit more work than normal to do so when the device launches. The 808 PureView's product page shows that the handset is set for "Global" availability, but a footnote at the bottom of the spec list contains an important (and disappointing) bit of information: "Excluding North America."
The news is definitely a bit of a bummer, but it's also not totally unexpected considering that Nokia said back in August that it didn't plan on offering any Symbian devices after it launched its first Windows Phones. Of course, importing an 808 PureView is an option, although it's one that could be a bit more costly than some folks will be willing to commit to. Here's to hoping that it's not long before we're snapping away on a Nokia Windows Phone with PureView tech built in.
