Yesterday word surfaced about a Nokia Windows Phone codenamed "Om" that was reportedly close to launch before ultimately being canned by Verizon. Now a new rumor has emerged about two more unannounced Nokia handsets, but unlike the Om, these phones are reportedly on the highway to AT&T. Featuring the band-themed codenames "Prodigy" and "AC/DC," the devices are expected to debut around the same time as Windows Phone 8, which is thought to be coming sometime later this year. Details on the two Windows Phones are light, but the Prodigy is described as a WP8 "superphone" while the AC/DC is said to be more of a mid-range device.
The folks at HTC are also reportedly working on "one or two high-end phones" for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. However, The Verge's sources say that it's not yet clear if Sprint or Verizon are completely on board with one of HTC's devices just yet. No hard details on the rumored HTC products were mentioned.
With Windows Phone 8 in the pipeline and AT&T seemingly being the go-to carrier for Windows Phone here in the U.S., it makes sense to hear that Nokia is prepping a high-end WP8 handset for AT&T to help celebrate the arrival of the next major Windows Phone update when it hits. It's kind of a bummer that there's no mention of Nokia devices for other carriers in today's report, especially for all of the Sprint and Verizon folk that only have one Windows Phone option on their respective carriers. However, we did recently hear that Sprint may be interested in a Windows Phone 8 device with a dual-core processor, so that's something for you Now Network customers to keep in mind.
