Back in November, we asked how many of you were considering buying a tablet over the holidays, and many of you responded by saying that a shiny new slate was indeed in the cards. It looks like those of you that did get one aren't alone in you newfound tablet ownership, as some new statistics from the Pew Research Center have shown that number of U.S. adults that own a tablet nearly doubled from 10 percent in the middle of December to 19 percent in early January. Ebook readers also jumped from 10 percent ownership to 19 percent in the same period. Overall, Pew says that the share of U.S. adults that own either a tablet or e-reader grew from 18 percent in December to 29 percent in January. This jump in tablet and e-reader ownership comes after a lull that stretched from mid-2011 to the fall season.
Smartphones and tablets have increasingly become popular holiday gifts, and when you combine that with the introduction of wallet-friendly devices like the Kindle Fire, it makes sense that tablet ownership would see a significant jump through the end of the year. Still, it's pretty cool to watch tablets grow in popularity, especially considering that mainstream consumer interest in the tablet market was, well, nearly nonexistent just a few years ago. So, how many of you got a tablet or e-reader over the holidays? If so, what'd you get?
