Huawei turned heads at CES earlier this month when it unveiled the super-thin Ascend P1 S and its slightly chunkier Ascend P1 brother, both running 1.5GHz dual-core processors and 4.3-inch Super AMOLED displays. Don't think that Huawei will be taking a break after introducing those two devices, though, as it's reportedly planning to unveil some new handsets at Mobile World Congress next month that'll outdo them both. Speaking with TWICE, Huawei device chairman Richard Yu said that his company is planning a "Diamond series of smartphones" for MWC that'll perform at a level higher than the aforementioned Ascend handsets. Yu didn't provide any other details on the Diamond devices. However, Huawei executive VP Michael Chuang reportedly told TWICE that a CDMA and LTE-flavored version of the P1/P1 S is expected to hit later this year.
So what might Huawei have up its sleeve? Given the trend of large 4.5 or 4.7-inch displays, a screen size increase is certainly a possibility, as is a bump from the 960x540 resolution of the P1/P1 S up to something of the 720p persuasion. There's also a chance that a quad-core processor could be in Huawei's plans. Guess we'll just have to wait until MWC to find out for sure. Thankfully the big shindig is a little over a month away, so we don't have to wait long.
