It seems that just about everyone's got Galaxy Nexus fever! And although the only prescription might be getting the actual device, some official getting videos might be a decent substitute for now. Google has posted a handful of brief videos highlighting some of the new features found on the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich, including Face Unlock, Android Beam, and Android 4.0 multitasking.
All of the clips are worth a watch if you're waiting (im)patiently for the new Nexus to arrive, but there are a couple of things in them worth mentioning. In the "Getting Started" clip, we're treated to a look at a new ICS Welcome screen as well as the Verizon branding found on the rear of the 4G LTE model, which looks just like what we saw last week. Then in the "Make Yourself at Home" video, we can see a two Verizon apps that are already installed: My Verizon Mobile and VZ Backup Assistant. Considering that those are two apps that some folks are actually likely to use, though, their inclusion doesn't seem terribly egregious.
As for a U.S. release date, well, we're still waiting for Google, Samsung, or Verizon to come forward and give us the goods. The wait may be getting particularly tough for some now that the Nexus is available for purchase from at least one U.K. retailer, but on the bright side, we've only got a month and a half left at the most as long as Verizon sticks with its "later this year" Nexus release window. Good thing we've got so many official Nexus videos to keep us occupied, right? Check out a few of the videos below, along with a whole mess more right here.
UPDATE: Keeping up with the Verizon Nexus news, it seems that Google has confirmed the sizing and specs of the LTE-enabled model. When Google and Samsung introduced the Nexus last month, they said that the LTE model would be slightly thicker than the HSPA+ variant, and now we know precisely how much thicker that is: the HSPA+ model measures 8.94mm thick while the LTE version is 9.47mm thick. Another notable change between the HSPA+ and LTE Nexus models is the battery. The LTE Nexus is packing an 1850mAh battery, which is slightly larger than the 1750mAh juice pack found in the HSPA+ model and is likely to blame for the extra thickness of the LTE version. Lastly, the LTE variant is slightly heavier, weighing in at 150 grams compared to the HSPA+ model and its weight of 135 grams.
