BlackBerry users across the globe were left with intermittent, or completely broken in some cases, access to services like BBM and email last week due to a major outage that stretched out over several days. Ever since it was realized that the outage wasn't just a minor, less-than-one-day type of thing, people have been wondering what RIM would do to make things right with its customers, and now we know the answer. Today RIM announced that it plans to offer a number of apps (worth over $100 in total) for free in the BlackBerry App World to make up for last week's service issues. The apps will begin to be available on October 19th, with the complete selection rolling out over a period of four weeks, and will remain free until December 31st. Some of the apps that'll be discounted to the low, low price of free include:
RIM will also be offering its enterprise customers a full month of technical support for free. It's good to see RIM trying to make amends with its users for the three-day service outage, although I'm sure that there are some users that'd like something more than a handful of free apps in return for the problems. What do you all think, BlackBerry faithful? Does the aforementioned list of free apps make up for whatever service interruptions you may have encountered?

Note to Editors:
Last week, many customers experienced service interruptions and delays over a period of approximately 3 days in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa, 1.5 days in Latin America and Canada, and 1 day in the United States. Global teams worked around the clock to contain the issue and minimize the impact to customers as much as possible. As of Thursday, October 13, service levels returned to normal.
