The iPhone 4S was put up for pre-order by Apple, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon on Friday and, now that the new device has been available to customers for a couple of days now, some folks have been wondering just how well the 4S has been selling. AT&T has announced that this was its "most successful iPhone launch" ever, with over 200,000 pre-orders placed within the first 12 hours of availability. Checking out AT&T's site reveals that any iPhone 4S orders placed today won't ship for another 21-28 days.
Neither Sprint nor Verizon have shared any hard numbers on its iPhone 4S sales, but Sprint's website is showing that the 16GB models have sold out (but will be available in stores on the 14th). Meanwhile, Verizon is still taking pre-orders for all iPhone 4S models, but any orders placed as of this writing won't be delivered until October 21st, a week after launch. Apple's own website shows a similar story, listing all versions of the iPhone 4S as shipping within 1-2 weeks after the order is placed.
Although we likely won't get a definitive answer to the question of how well the iPhone 4S is selling until after the device actually launches on the October 14th, so far it looks like sales of Apple's new smartphone aren't too shabby. How many of you have placed a pre-order for a 4S or plan to try and pick one up in stores on Friday?
