Remember back in June when U.S. Cellular revealed that it would be launching a 4.3-inch Motorola Android device sometime this year? Well today that phone has finally been made official. The Motorola Electrify was just announced by U.S. Cellular and features a 4.3-inch 960x540 qHD display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, HD video capture, front-facing camera, 16GB built-in storage, 1GB RAM, 1,700mAh battery, kickstand, HDMI out, and Android 2.3.4 beneath Motorola's custom UI. The Electrify will also feature Motorola's webtop application so that owners can use their device with a larger display and full keyboard and also gain access to a full Firefox browser. Expect the Electrify to land "later this month" for $199.99 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.
We first heard the Electrify name back in July and, just like we mentioned then, this new handset sounds a lot like U.S. Cellular's version of the Motorola Photon 4G. That's not a bad thing, though; the Photon is a nice high-end device and is currently sitting atop our list of the best smartphones available on Sprint. Now we just need official word from U.S. Cellular on precisely when the Electrify will be launching. Any of you U.S. Cellular folk out there think that this smartphone could soon be taking up residence inside your pocket?
