This morning's been a veritable BlackBerry bonanza, and now the news continues with the RIM's PlayBook tablet. Back in March, RIM announced that the PlayBook would gain the ability to run Android apps sometime this summer, but now it sounds like we'll be waiting a bit longer for that feature to arrive. According to a "reliable source" speaking with Engadget, the PlayBook won't be running any Android software (officially, anyway) until sometime in "late fall." No reason for the delay was given.

The ability to take advantage of the ever-growing number of Android apps is a pretty enticing feature of the BlackBerry PlayBook, which is why this news is more than a bit of a bummer. It's not clear precisely when in "late fall" the ability to run Android apps will finally make its way to the PlayBook, but for the sake of both RIM and owners of the company's slate, hopefully the feature won't be pushed back all the way until the final days of the season.
