Earlier this month we learned that T-Mobile was planning to make a few feature changes in May, including bringing back unlimited WiFi calling. Today we've learned that more changes may be a-comin', and this time the family plans are the ones getting a makeover. As you can see in the image above, obtained by our buddies at TmoNews, T-Mobile may be planning to streamline its family plan offerings on Sunday, May 22nd. The 750, 1,500, and 3,000 minute plans are being eliminated in favor of 1,000 and 2,000 minute options, and the unlimited plan is getting a little cheaper. First up, the unlimited plan will cost $99.99 for unlimited talk and text for two lines. For anyone interesting in adding a side of data to that, it'll cost $119.99 for 200MB, $139.99 for 2GB, $159.99 for 5GB, or $219.99 for 10GB per month. It's not clear yet how much we can expect to pay for data when it comes to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th lines, but those extra lines will cost either $10 per month for 500 minutes or $30 for unlimited.
If unlimited isn't your thing, there's an option for 2,000 minutes that'll be priced at $79.99 per month. The downside? It seems T-Mobile would really prefer folks sign up for the unlimited plan rather than the 2,000 minute one if they want any texts/data, as the doc doesn't seem to offer any kind of data options for the middle plan. Instead, it urges reps to upsell customers to the unlimited talk/text plan.
Finally, we've got the 1,000 minute plan. Customers can pony up $59.99 per month for 1,000 minutes or move up to $79.99 to add texting. When it comes to data, 200MB will drive the monthly bill up to $99.99, 2GB will cost $119.99, 5GB will cost $139.99, and 10GB will cost $199.99. Anyone interested in adding a 3rd, 4th, or 5th line can pay $10 per month to allow those customers to share from the bucket of minutes.
Obviously we've still got a few questions about these new plans, like how much extra lines will have to pay for data access. The good news is that if these changes do go live on the 22nd, we should be learning more soon. Anyone interested in switching to one of these new plans?
