Ready for a round of good news-bad news, everyone? First up is the bad news: the Motorola XOOM's LTE upgrade has been pushed back until sometime this summer, which is a bit later than the 90-ish days after launch that we originally heard about. CEO Sanjay Jha didn't get specific on why this was happening, but it's being suggested that Moto is waiting until Verizon's LTE coverage becomes a little more widespread. Now to wash that bad taste out of our mouths with some good news: Jha confirmed that the DROID Bionic will be coming at the same time as the XOOM's LTE upgrade. The exec said that the Bionic's delay was related to issues with 4G, but that the device will be getting several enhancements sampled from another high-end device in Moto's profile. There's no word on exactly what those updates may be, but a recently-released Motorola statement says that the new Bionic will feature "expanded features, functionality and an improved form factor."
It's kind of a bummer that we don't know exactly what Moto is planning to pack into the Bionic to make it better than it previously was, but it's good to know that the device hasn't been canned and that it'll be storming Verizon's shelves sometime this summer. As for the XOOM, I'm sure there are more than a few folks that are disappointed about the delay of the LTE upgrade, but as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. So, now that we know an improved DROID Bionic is going to be coming along in the next few months to make your summer even hotter, how many of you are going to ignore other devices like the DROID Charge and DROID Incredible 2 in favor of Moto's offering?
