We've seen quite a few smartphones touting 1GHz and 1.2GHz dual-core processors as of late and, while that's all fine and dandy, we've got some news that could get some of you speed-freaks going. According to a "high-ranking" Samsung official, we can expect a smartphone from Sammy by next year that's sporting a positively beastly dual-core 2GHz processor that the exec claims "will have the data processing capacities of a regular PC." For the more Samsung-averse of you out there, the official said that the chips may be sold separately to other companies as well.
With this news and the fact that NVIDIA's got some pretty impressive new Tegra chipsets coming later this year, it's certainly a good time to be in the market for some powerful hardware. With so many great devices in the pipeline, though, it may not be so good for your wallet. Of course, some may argue that the current CPUs are plenty powerful and that manufacturers should focus more on battery life instead of pumping up processors. Which camp do you fall into?
