At the beginning of the weekend, news broke that access to Twitter had been suspended on two popular Twitter applications, UberTwitter and Twidroyd. While information was brief at first, it was learned that the issue stemmed from security problems with direct messages longer than 140 characters, some trademark infringements, and "changing the content of users' tweets to make money." But it looks like the developers were hard at work over the weeked, making sure that these issues were fixed. Suspension was lifted earlier this morning. According to a blog post on Twitter's site, "Our initial review indicates that steps have been taken to remedy the violations for these applications."
The updates are available for both applications. Ubermedia is the owner of both, so it's no surprise that the company had its developers hard at work over the weekend to make sure that everything got smoothed out. Hopefully for the company many of its users didn't jump ship and start using other applications, which they may enjoy more. Were you affected by the suspension over the weekend? Let me know in the comments below.
