When it rains, it pours. Just days after hearing of T-Mobile's "See BlackBerry Different" event and then seeing a BlackBerry Monaco/Storm 3 in action, the BlackBerry Dakota has been spotted hanging out in the wild. The folks at N4BB have gotten their hands on photos of the Dakota and have been able to confirm some spec information, as well. The 2.8-inch 640x480 display that we heard about back in January is still present, although the internal storage has been bumped up to 6.5GB and the RAM has been reduced to 512MB (down from 768MB). RIM has even gone all out with the Dakota's backside, giving the device a carbon fiber battery door. Check it out below.
The Dakota is definitely one of the highest-specced BlackBerrys we've ever seen, and it may even be able to hang with some of the best handsets available today (although we still don't know what kind of processor is powering it). Unfortunately, the Dakota isn't launching today, and we don't know when it will be arriving. Hopefully RIM's planning to release it soon, otherwise it could lose some of its luster thanks to devices like the Galaxy S II and iPhone 5.
