Most major Motorola Android phones have been updated to Android 2.1 or 2.2 at this point, but there are some users still waiting on their upgrade to come. Good news for those customers: Moto has updated their Software Upgrade timeline. There's no mention of Gingerbread just yet, so don't get too excited, but CLIQ XT owners will be disappointed to see that their upgrade to Android 2.1 has been delayed and won't make its planned Q4 release date. Things are much worse if you got your CLIQ XT through Wal-Mart and their Straight Talk brand, though, because Moto has decided that that device will stay at Android 1.5.
It's kind of disappointing that CLIQ XT owners are going to be waiting an unknown amount of time for their version of Eclair to arrive, especially now that Gingerbread is here. At least the T-Mo CLIQ XT is getting the upgrade, though, unlike the Wal-Mart version. Also, it's strange that the DROID Pro, DROID 2, etc. aren't listed on Moto's timeline, but that's likely because they're already on Froyo. Once Gingerbread enters the timeline, whenever that is, I'm sure we'll see the rest of Moto's lineup get their estimated upgrade times, too.
