So we know that the DROID 2 Global is going to have a couple of different SKUs when it finally launches, but just what is the difference between the two? Originally it was thought that there would be a version of the device sans camera, but according to Boy Genius Report and Costco's inventory, the D2 Global will actually be coming in both black and white variations. As you can see in the image above, the price for the globetrotting DROID 2 is set at the now-standard smartphone price of $199.99. The T-Mobile Comet is listed right below the Global in the inventory screen above, with a $149.99 price tag.
Now that the DROID 2 Global is slipping into retail store inventories, it certainly seems like the plain ol' CDMA-only DROID 2's days are numbered. There's still no firm release date for the 1.2GHz worldphone, but November 11th is shaping up to be a solid possibility. In the meantime, the T-Mobile Comet should be landing on November 3rd, though that date may be kind of unfortunate for the Comet since the myTouch 4G will be launching on the same day. Still, the Comet looks like a nice little device for customers that don't need a high-end, HSPA+ smartphone. The Comet may not have 4G (although some would argue that the myTouch doesn't have 4G, either), but it does have a cheap price, pocketable form factor, and what looks like vanilla Android 2.2. Given how rare a stock Froyo handset is, some customers may choose the Comet just based on that. I know I would have a tough time passing it up.
