Ever since the Samsung Galaxy Tab was announced, we've all been waiting with bated breath to see just how much the device would cost stateside. Verizon has finally come forward with their Galaxy Tab launch information, stating that they'll be launching the Android 2.2-powered tablet on November 11th for $599.99. There's no mention of any rebate or subsidy pricing in Verizon's press release. Data plans for the Tab start at $20 per month for 1GB, although the plan is optional since the device is being sold for full retail price. You can check out the full press release down below.
Verizon's pricing for the Galaxy Tab is in line with the full retail prices that we saw rumored for other carriers, but strangely, there's no subsidy on the tablet with VZW. This no-contract strategy is similar to how Verizon is selling the iPad, although it's important to remember that you can get both an iPad and a MiFi for only $30 more than the Tab's $600 asking price. While the optional data plan and no-contract pricing is nice, I'm a little concerned about the Galaxy Tab's adoption, at least on Verizon. A Tab with a subsidy would look much more attractive to potential customers. Are any of you planning on picking up a Galaxy Tab from Verizon, or will you be waiting to see what other carriers have to offer?
