It's hard to believe it's already October and that we're over halfway through it already. Halloween is right around the corner, and quite honestly, I'm excited. This year, I have really started getting into it. Having visited the local horror-themed amusement park, SCarowinds Haunt X (which is a really weird name, by the way), and having watched some newly theater-released horror titles and some classics, I'm really digging this Halloween.
Since it's no secret that Google enjoys the holiday and even dressed ol' Andy up as a pirate last year, I saw it fitting to show you how I have my Droid X suited up for the holiday and to share with you some other ways to deck out your own Android devices. If you go to Android Market and simply search “Halloween,” a very long list of Halloween themes, applications, and games will appear. I've done my sifting through them and have picked out a few that are worth downloading and/or buying.
Halloween Live Wallpaper – This is the wallpaper I'm using currently. It's a spooky scene filled with jack-o-lanterns, flying bats, spiders, witches, ghosts, and a creepy looking moon. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but great for the season. If you want this one, it will set you back a whopping $0.99.
Scary Wallpapers – If you're not a user of live wallpapers, this one may be for you. I downloaded quite a few different wallpaper applications, just to see what they were made of, and this one seemed to have the goriest, spookiest, and baddest of them all. If you're looking for Halloween wallpapers, get them here!
Zombie Survival Handbook – This is where things get serious, folks. Stay inside, bar your doors, and keep away from the windows. In case there is a zombie outbreak, this should get you through 'til morning. From everything on what to kill a zombie with, to a cultural overview of zombies, the Zombie Survival Handbook has you covered. This one will also set you back a buck, but knowing how to survive if there just so happened to be an outbreak is worth it.
Twilight Clock – This one is plain obvious. You don't want to be out after dark, not during this season. Keep up with how much daylight is left with the Twilight Clock Widget, and make it home before sundown.
Strange News – The Strange News application will keep you current on anything out of the ordinary. If there's a vampire in your neighborhood, a UFO has been spotted over your house, or Frankenstein's monster has found his way back into existence, Strange News will let you know. It also has a question board, just in case you're looking for some answers to some spooky things.
Zombie.TV – This one is to keep you on edge. It has all sorts of streaming, short zombie films, for free! Use these to help you learn what not to do in the case of an outbreak.
Zombie, Run! - If you and your friends can't find anything better to do with your time, play Zombie, Run! It's a zombie simulation GPS-enabled game. You set a destination and avoid the zombies on your route. Survive as long as you can, you wouldn't want them feasting on you or your friends' brains. This should make for good practice, just in case.
There you have it! These applications should help you get through the holiday season in style. You can boast to all of your friends that you can survive any zombie attack or anything of that nature, and they need to stick by you if they want to make it to November. Let us know what your favorite Halloween-related applications are in the comments below! Is there anything interesting that I may have missed buried beneath the hundreds of Halloween themes in the Market?
