We may still be waiting for the Gingerbread and Honeycomb versions of Android to actually be released, but that hasn't stopped speculation about the "I" dessert will be. Unsurprisingly, the version following Honeycomb is going to be called "Ice Cream," according to Tudor Brown, President of ARM. Forbes believes that Ice Cream, which they say will be version 4.0 of Android, will be released in mid-2011.
We've all kind of assumed that the name Ice Cream would be a pretty safe bet to follow Honeycomb the Google's Android alphabet. After all, how many other desserts can you think of that begin with the letter "I?" I'm more interested to learn what Google is going to do when they reach the letter "Z." One last interesting note: Forbes refers to Ice Cream as Android 4.0, following Honeycomb 3.5 and Gingerbread 3.0. We've heard that Gingerbread has been relegated to a 2.x release and that Honeycomb will be version 3.0. Since Gingerbread is said to be coming out before the end of the year, we don't have long to wait until we can begin to unravel this delicious, delicious mystery.
