You know how I know that the R2-D2 DROID 2 is going to be launching soon (besides the fact that we already know the release date)? Dummy units of the Droid-ified DROID 2 have begun arriving in Verizon stores, ready to go on display for eager Star Wars fans and customers looking to snag a new smartphone. Sure, we've already seen a couple of photos of the limited edition DROID, but nothing beats these close-ups of the real (not working) deal, right?
The limited nature of the R2-D2 DROID 2, combined with the fact that many Star Wars fans love nothing more than to collect anything related to the series of movies, mean that this handset will likely sell like space hotcakes. After examining at these photos, I thought that the R2-D2 DROID 2 looks extremely similar to the leaked photos of the DROID 2 World Edition/DROID Pro that we saw yesterday, you know, minus all of R2-D2 stuff. Just a thought. Anyway, those of us that are considering a new smartphone purchase have a tough choice to make: pick up a DROID 2, opt instead for the special edition R2-D2 DROID 2, or wait for the DROID 2 World Edition that may be sporting a 1.2 GHz processor. Decisions, decisions...
